The most accurate way to determine a ring size is by having your finger measured by a jeweller. If that isn't feasible, here are a couple of alternative suggestions to finding out a ring size:
* Use an existing ring, that is the exact same size as the ring you'd like and have that measured on a ring gauge by a jeweller
* Use a plastic ring sizer to gently wrap around your finger and tighten through the mechanism. Find your comfortably fit. The arrow will point to a letter which is your UK ring size.
NOTE: Finger size can change depending on the time of day: for the most accurate measurement, measure your finger at different times of the day, and on different days to compare.
Avoid measuring your finger when they are cold, as they will be at their smallest
Use the International conversion chart to determine your UK ring size
The ‘perfect necklace length’ is a very personal choice, and it all comes down to where you want the necklace to sit and how you plan to style it. Necklace length guides are just that, a guide. Everyone’s shape varies; some people have a long neck and others a wider neck. Where the same chain length (i.e a 18 inch) sits, will vary from person to person. Ultimately, as long as the necklace is comfortable and you like where it falls, that’s all the matters.
Standard necklace lengths for women tends to be:
The choker-length necklace sits snugly around the base of your neck,emphasizing your collarbone. Eye-catching when worn alone or when layered with longer necklaces.
The princess-length necklace is the most popular and versatile. It falls just below the collarbone, making it suitable for various necklines and ideal for daily wear.
The matinee-length necklace is slightly longer, typically falling between the collarbone and the bust. This length is great for layering with shorter necklaces or showcasing
statement pendants.
What you will need:
* String or cotton, roughly the same width as the chain you are considering.
* Tape measure
* Sharpie
How to measure:
* In front of a mirror
* Place the string or cotton around your neck as if it were a necklace
* Adjust the string and play around with the different lengths
* Once you have found your ideal length, cross the string and mark where they meet with the sharpie
* Place your tape measure on a flat, even surface, and lay the string alongside it. With the first black mark at 0, the other black mark will indicate your chain length. (NB If you use a seamstress tape, you will need to tack it down so there are no kinks).
Top Tips:
* If you’re purchasing a pendant style necklace. Allow for the length of the pendant. All of our descriptions include the pendant measurements.
* Better still, slip a ring onto the string to weigh it down when measuring. This will give you a better idea of how/ where it will hang when it’s around your neck. When you do this, mark the string with a sharpie at the back of your neck.
* If in doubt. 18-inch chains are the most popular length. Plus, most of our chains come with the option
to adjust the length from 16” to 18” and 18” to 20”.
Selina Murray bracelets, bangles and cuffs are crafted for maximum style and comfort. If you are on the cusp between two sizes, you may select the smaller size for a tighter fit, or larger size for a looser fit, depending on your preference.
Please see below for more instructions on how to measure your wrist for bracelets, cuffs and bangles.
Using a flexible seamstress tape, measure the circumference of your wrist by fitting it right above the wrist bone. If you do not have a seamstress measuring tape use a ribbon and mark on the point at which the two ends meet. Then use a ruler to measure the length.
Match this measurement to the correlating row on our Size Chart, below. For example, a wrist measuring between 16.8 cm would correspond to a woman’s medium.
Bangle size is determined by the size of your hand and not your wrist. To determine your bangle size, simply tuck your thumb into the palm of your hand (as if about to put on a bangle) and using seamstress' tape,
measure your hand all the way around the set of knuckles closest to your wrist, from knuckle to knuckle. Compare that measurement to the Size Chart below.
